Non Verbal And Verbal Communication - 978 Words

Before I started taking this class I almost feel as if I was blind to the various aspects of communication compared to now. Almost after every slide I try to relate each topic to a facet I have seen it in my life, it is not hard to do so considering we are receiving or providing a form of communication majority of the time. The two topics of communications I will be talking about are non-verbal and verbal communication. Nonverbal communication has many properties to it one in specific that I remember driving me crazy was the use of â€Å"read receipts† over text. This feature on the iPhone utilized the property of chronemics, the use of time in communication. I experienced this for a while with my girlfriend and many other people. When my girlfriend and I first started talking we would text a lot, almost at all times of the day I would be glued to my phone. I would send a message and be that weirdo waiting to see when she would read it and respond. The only more annoying thing than seeing the read receipt and the person not responding was seeing the typing symbol and not getting the message. This would make me all kinds of crazy especially when a girl would do it. This made me think that I could do this too to my advantage; I did not have much success with this as the number of people texting me back started to decrease. My Mother must have mastered the art of nonverbal communication since she uses many aspects of it with my two sisters and I everyday.
